1. Product Overview
The VA series vortex flowmeter is a flow measurement instrument designed and manufactured using advanced national technology. It offers stable and reliable performance and has been awarded multiple national patents. Its production strictly complies with the national industry standard JB/T9249-2015, “Vortex Flowmeter,” and the national metrological verification regulations JJG1029-2007, “Vortex Flowmeter Verification Regulations.”
Vortex flowmeters can measure the following media: saturated steam, superheated steam; low-viscosity liquids such as water, oil, alcohol, and chemical raw materials; and various gases, including compressed air, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, natural gas, and mixed gases. They are widely used in industries such as metallurgy, petrochemicals, light industry, food processing, and wastewater treatment.
2. Operating Principle
A vortex flowmeter is designed and manufactured using the Karman vortex principle and modern electronic technology. The frequency of vortex generation is proportional to the velocity of the fluid. When fluid flows through a vortex generator (such as a triangular prism), regular vortex trains (known as Karman vortex streets) are generated alternately on both sides. The alternating lift generated by the vortices acts on the piezoelectric sensor, generating an alternating charge signal. After amplification, filtering, and shaping by an amplifier, a voltage pulse signal is output. By detecting the vortex frequency, the flow velocity and volume flow rate of the fluid in the pipeline can be measured.

4. Flowmeter Installation Requirements
● Vortex flowmeters are normally installed horizontally, but can also be installed vertically or at any angle. However, when measuring liquids, the pipe must be filled with liquid. When installed in vertical or inclined pipes, the liquid should flow from bottom to top.
● The upstream and downstream sides of the vortex flowmeter should have long straight pipe sections. The length of the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections varies depending on the pipe conditions. Specific installation lengths and requirements for straight pipe sections are shown in the table below.

Note:
The straight pipe section downstream of the flow meter should be greater than 5D.
● The fluid must not contain large particles or long fibers to prevent them from affecting measurement or damaging the flowmeter.
● The flowmeter should not be installed on pipes subject to mechanical vibration and should be installed away from strong electromagnetic interference.
● To prevent external electromagnetic interference, the flowmeter housing must be reliably grounded, but it must not share a grounding connection with the power system.
● When installed outdoors, the flowmeter should be covered to prevent rain and direct sunlight from affecting its performance and service life.
